From February 2024, Gmail and Yahoo will require senders to meet stricter authentication and quality standards to ensure reliable message delivery.
The goal is clear: make email safer for users and cleaner for networks.
These changes follow the principle “No Auth, No Entry” and mark a new step in the fight against phishing and spoofing. For companies managing bulk or transactional messages, adapting to these rules is now essential.
To ensure your messages reach the inbox, you need to apply the following best practices:
Low spam rate – User-reported spam must stay below 0.3%.
DMARC policy – The domain in the “From:” header must have a valid DMARC record in DNS. Even a p=none policy is acceptable to start.
SPF and DKIM – Every message must use a Return-Path domain with a valid SPF record and include a DKIM signature.
Aligned domains – The domain in the “From:” field should match the DKIM or SPF domain, preferably both.
Valid DNS records – Sending IPs must have a correct forward and reverse DNS match (FCrDNS).
One-click unsubscribe – Commercial messages must include a clear unsubscribe option.
Google and Yahoo are not introducing something entirely new.
They are simply aligning with existing best practices that responsible senders already follow.
Qboxmail has long adopted these standards, which are built into our delivery platform based on the “No Auth, No Entry” rule.
By enforcing authentication and reputation rules, senders help create a safer, more transparent and reliable email ecosystem.
In turn, users benefit from fewer unwanted messages and greater trust in legitimate communications.
Technologies such as DKIM and SPF confirm the identity of the sender and protect against domain forgery.
They also strengthen the sender’s reputation and reduce the chance of being flagged as spam.
Combined with DMARC policies, they create a verified chain of trust between domain, message and recipient.
Improving message delivery is not just about avoiding spam filters.
It is about protecting your brand reputation and ensuring that every message reflects your company’s reliability.
Monitoring reputation, verifying authentication, and respecting unsubscribe standards all help maintain that trust over time.
Qboxmail continues to support these best practices through integrated tools for authentication, IP management and message tracking.
Following the 2024 deliverability requirements is not only compliance it is a smarter, more transparent way to communicate.
