Microsoft 365 is one of the most widely used platforms for managing business email, but in some cases companies and partners move mailboxes to another infrastructure. They do this, for example, when they want direct control over the email service or when they need to integrate mailbox management into their own technical environment.
This migration transfers messages from Microsoft 365 mailboxes to Qboxmail and preserves the full message history.
If you plan a migration from Microsoft 365, you need to understand some specific characteristics of the platform. The authentication system plays a key role. When accounts use OAuth2, you must complete a preliminary step. You need to create an App Registration to allow access to mailbox data during the transfer to Qboxmail.
This procedure applies to Microsoft 365 accounts that use OAuth2 authentication.
Microsoft 365 uses this authentication method to control how external applications access mailbox data. Before you start the migration, create an App Registration in the Microsoft environment.
The App Registration generates an OAuth2 token. The migration process uses this token to access Microsoft 365 accounts and transfer messages to Qboxmail.
After you complete this step, contact Qboxmail technical support and provide the CSV file for the mailbox migration.
The CSV file must include two additional fields related to the App Registration:
client_ID → Application (client) ID associated with the App Registration
client_secret → value of the client secret
The CSV file must follow this structure:
email@locale;imap-server-remoto;email@remota;pwdremota;client_ID;client_secret
For a complete guide to the migration setup, refer to the official Qboxmail documentation:
https://docs.qboxmail.com/en/panel/imports-migrations/migrations#migrating-from-ms365
The documentation describes all required technical steps. It shows how to create the App Registration and how to prepare the CSV file for mailbox migration.
To manage the migration correctly, analyze the number of mailboxes, the data volume, and the account configuration in advance.
This analysis helps you organize the transfer, keep the service running, and reduce the impact on users and administrators.
