Amazon AWS announced that it will reduce the free email sending program of Simple Email Service (SES). Within 12 months, all customers will need to pay for their email sends, including those who use AWS EC2 and previously benefited from up to 62,000 free emails per month.
Amazon justifies the change by pointing to new SES features such as the Virtual Deliverability Manager, a dashboard that analyzes delivery problems and suggests solutions. This tool is free at first, but after 12 months it becomes a paid service, with costs depending on the number of sends and queries.
